Description: | This Biomedical Engineering undergraduate program allows you to earn two degrees in five years – one in Biomedical Engineering and one in Chemical Engineering.
Biomedical Engineering can lead you to engineering positions in the medical device sector, admission to leading biomedical engineering graduate programs, and admission to medical school. You enter the program from the Engineering common first year and develop a solid foundation in Chemical Engineering in Years 2 and 3. In Year 4, you complete coursework in Biomedical Engineering consisting of interdisciplinary biomedical engineering, fundamental biomedical science, and healthcare issues. In Years 4 and 5, you will study a combination of Chemical Engineering courses and required courses in Biomedical Engineering.
As an Engineering student, you'll have the option to enroll in the "With Co-Op" version of your program and complete a minimum of 3 co-op terms to graduate with a 'Bachelor of Engineering Science with Co-Op' degree. In addition to the practical experience and competitive salary you'll gain through summer and/or long-term co-ops, your employment will count towards the four years experience you need to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
